OhioMHAS operates regional psychiatric hospitals in six locations across the state. Our specialized facilities provide short-term, intensive treatment to patients in both inpatient and community-supported environments. We also deliver comprehensive care to patients committed by criminal courts.

We are recruiting for a Program Administrator to liaison with our Central Office Electronic Health Record (EHR) Administrator and IT team and provide program direction at our regional psychiatric hospital in Toledo, Ohio.

What you will do:

  • Plans organizes, & conducts psychosocial group & individual sessions in therapeutic recreational, occupational, vocational or social areas (e.g., art, music, drama & movement/dance therapies)
  • Plans & conducts fitness and relaxation activities; provides evening/weekend small & large group activities (e.g., Bingo, tournaments, etc.)
  • Prepares, completes & maintains all required records; completes documentation according to policy including but not limited to assessments, progress notes, treatment plans & annual evaluations;
  • Writes in progress notes on assigned individual program evaluations; recommends & completes requisition form to order arts, crafts & other recreational supplies & equipment;
  • Performs various work-related miscellaneous tasks; maintains program equipment & supplies; sets up/takes down needed equipment for various functions; inspects program work area for safe & sanitary conditions
  • Transports & escorts clients to community & or hospital based programs; participates in planning hospital wide events (e.g., Summer Fest, client holiday parties, etc.)
  • Attends & participates in meetings: participates in treatment team meetings to make recommendations for services, attends staff meetings & in-service training sessions, attends required QSTP/QTI training; completes required mandated training (e.g., CPR, First Aid, THART, Fire & Safety).

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in music therapy from an accredited institution approved by American Music Therapy Association (i.e., AMTA); completion of 6 mos., 1040 hour music therapy internship at an approved AMTA cite & board certification (i.e., MT-BC) by certification board for music therapists (i.e., CBMT); 24 mos. exp. in activity therapy.

  • Or bachelor’s degree in therapeutic recreation; completion of 1000 hour clinical practicum & certification by national council on therapeutic recreation certification; 24 mos. exp. in activity therapy.

  • Or completion of undergraduate core program in recreation, physical education or specialty area (e.g., music, art, drama, dance); 24 mos. exp. in activity therapy.

  • Or completion of associate degree in recreation or specialty area (e.g., music, art, drama, dance); 24 mos. exp. in activity therapy.

  • Or equivalent of the minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.

Knowledge of employee training & development*; agency &/or state policies, procedures & safety practices regarding specialty area activity therapy operation*; techniques of applicable activity therapy specialty area activities (e.g., art therapy, music therapy for mentally, physically &/or emotionally handicapped, movement/dance therapy, senses therapy, recreation therapy); public relations*. Skill in operation of personal computer. Ability to deal with several variables in somewhat unfamiliar context; establish friendly atmosphere as lead worker; gather, collate & classify information about data, people or things; develop good rapport with inmates, residents, patients, clients, children who are disabled; define problems, collect data, establish facts & draw valid conclusions; prepare meaningful, concise & accurate reports; cooperate with co-workers on group projects. The final candidate selected for the position will be required to provide proof of Covid-19 vaccination in accordance with federal regulation Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Final Interim Rule 2021-23831 and 42 CFR 483.80 and 42 CFR 483.430(f), State of Ohio Administrative Policy HR-52, and OhioMHAS Policy HR-03.
