The role of a Cytologists within the St. Elizabeth Healthcare System will include Cyto Attended Procedures throughout our 6 hospitals. The Cytologists work closely with Pathologists and Procedurealists to serve c
Uses HIS & LIS computer systems to log specimens, order tests, process workload, result tests and charge tests to ensure appropriate turn-around-time for patient diagnosis.
Prepares monolayer microscope slides from biohazardous patient specimens quickly in an efficient and cost effective manner according to established department procedures for optimal diagnostic accuracy.
Files slides and requisitions, prepares biohazardous fluids for disposal, changes chemical reagents and cleans containers in staining row.
Screens GYN & Non GYN microscope slides quickly and efficiently within prescribed departmental guidelines for quantity and accuracy, which is determined by individual discrepancy rates compared to departmental discrepancy rates, applying diagnostic criteria and clinical history to arrive at an appropriate diagnosis to present to the pathologist or clinician.
Operates, troubleshoots and maintains laboratory equipment, orders supplies and performs procedures to ensure high quality, accurate and cost effective results.

Qualifications
Education, Credentials, Licenses:
BS in Cytotechnology or related field
Must be an ASCP registered Cytotechnologist
