The primary purpose of the Assistant Dietary Clerk is to assist the Diet Clerk in performing clerical duties for the Health Center Dining Services. Such tasks include, but are not limited to, distributing, and collecting menus, checking Residents’ menus for accuracy, completing food production records, maintaining records of Residents’ likes and dislikes, processing diet changes and new diets, and visiting Residents for food preferences and menu selections.

The Assistant Dietary Clerk makes sure that the items residents pick meet nutritional guidelines and that those items are prepared in the amount that is ordered. Copying select menus, distributing, and collecting them according to schedule is a daily task. This position will assist in supervising, training, and directing all Health Center dining staff in the daily service of all meals to the Health Center. Will perform and / or assist in food preparation as well as cleaning duties.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED
• 12 – 18 months related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience; Health Care food service experience required
• The Assistant Dietary Clerk always shows courtesy, tact and graciousness to Members
• Ability to read, write, and speak English
• Working knowledge of R.D.A.s and special diet restrictions
• Must be able to lift and carry a 30 lb service tray 30 feet
• Maintains strict confidentiality in performing duties
• Must possess understanding of hospitality, customer service, table service technique, personal hygiene, and professional appearance
