Summary: Under the general supervision, provides professional Georgia WIC services to public. Assesses nutritional needs, diet
restrictions and current health plans. Provides individual client nutrition and diet counseling and develops and implements a nutrition
care plan for such clients as required by State or County nutrition guidelines. Assesses nutritional status of individuals using
anthropometric, biochemical, and clinical, dietary, and socioeconomic data and in compliance with programmatic guidelines. May
supervise paraprofessionals and/or act as a lead nutritionist for a small unit or team within a larger program or unit. Obtains documents
and plats anthropometric and finger stick hemoglobin with accuracy on WIC applicants per set guidelines. Assess nutritional needs, diet
restrictions and current health plans to develop and implement dietary-care plans and provide nutritional counseling. Counsels
participants and their families and groups on nutritional principles, dietary plans and diet modifications, healthy eating habits, and
nutrition monitoring to improve their quality of life.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in dietetics, human nutrition, food and nutrition, nutrition education, food systems
management or a closely related field from an accredited college or university AND verification statement of completion of a didactic
program accredited by the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics AND Two years of experience providing nutrition care to groups and
individuals.
Preferred Qualifications: B.S. in eligible degree for Academy Accredited Dietetic Internship. Georgia WIC experience. Working
knowledge of computer applications such as: databases, word processing and spreadsheets. The ability to interpret English to Spanish
and Spanish to English orally, preferred, but not required.
Salary Information: $36,106 annual / Pay Grade I
