Animal Research Technician III – The Geneva Foundation – Tacoma, WA

Overview:

The Animal Research Technician III assists in the implementation of the research study under the mentorship and direction of the Principal Investigator and in accordance with the guidelines set forth in the approved grant proposal as awarded by the funding source. The Animal Research Technician III is responsible for the coordination of study activities, which may include performing experiments; data collection and analysis process; interim and final progress reports preparation; preparation of manuscripts, study results dissemination; and the coordination any other activities necessary to execute the research protocol.

Our ideal Animal Research Technician III will join staff at the Madigan Army Medical Center (MAMC) who use a porcine model of hemorrhage and truncal ischemia-reperfusion injury well established in their laboratory to define the roles of organ specific mitochondrial (mt) DNA damage and plasma accumulation of pro-inflammatory mt DNA damage associated molecular patterns (DAMPs) in evolution of the multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS). The effect of two interventions – a novel DNA repair enzyme targeted to mitochondria and a repurposed drug, DNase1- on the severity of MODS as a consequence of hemorrhage and ischemia-reperfusion injury will be examined in this model using protocols with which the investigative team has substantial experience.
