Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT)/Veterinary Tech in Training (VTIT) – Advanced Pet Care of Northern Nevada – Sparks, NV

Advanced Pet Care is looking for a licensed veterinary technician or vet tech in training to join our team. We are a growing 2 doctor practice located in Sparks, NV. Our fun loving, compassionate staff focuses on exceptional client and patient care. In addition to offering quality veterinary care we also offer boarding, daycare and grooming services. Our quality veterinary care also includes some non-traditional services such as acupuncture, laser therapy, and preventative teeth cleanings.

Responsibilities

· Induce patients for surgery

· Place catheters

· Perform laser therapy

· Perform dental prophylaxis

· Administer vaccinations

· Prep/maintain hospitalized patients

· Take radiographs and monitor anesthesia

· Clean cages and weigh animals

· Sterilize equipment and clean examination tables and rooms

· Restrain animals during examinations or vaccinations

· Soothe upset or frightened animals

· Administer medication prescribed by Veterinarians (e.g. by mixing it with food)

· Observe animal behavior or health condition and report to the Vet

· Help in cases of emergencies

· Handle administrative duties such as scheduling appointments or calling patients in the examination room by priority

· Keep accurate records and logs

· Reassure clients that their pets are being cared for and explain issues (e.g. lack of appointments, insurance matters)

· Advise pet owners on nutrition and healthcare

Skills

· Proven experience as a licensed technician, VTIT, or similar position working with animals

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Patient and caring personality

· Ability to follow instructions

· Detail oriented and hardworking

· Comfortable being around animals (cats and dogs)

· Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (e.g. lift up to 40 lbs)

· Availability to occasionally work in emergencies

· Veterinary technician or Vet tech in training license for the State of Nevada

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: From $15.00 per hour
