To be an asset to the team you will get the opportunity to:

  • Able to set an example for all Dental Assistants in the office
  • Greet and prepare patients for dental care
  • Capture quality x-ray images
  • Display X-rays on the computer screen for the Doctor prior to the exam
  • Set room up according to Doctor’s preference and train others to do the same
  • Assist the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures
  • Document the treatment plan in the system while the Doctor performs the exam
  • Learn to independently provide teeth polishing and sealant procedures
  • Provide patients with instructions for oral care
  • Place weekly Dental Supply Orders
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance on all equipment

Qualifications of those who have been successful in this role:

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
  • Dental Assisting: 1+ years
  • Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) Certification: 2+ years
  • Explain exam and treatment recommendations to patient
  • Handle all patient behavior management
  • Calm and reassure the patient during the procedures
  • Coordinate for additional assistance or materials during treatment
  • Take an impression, remove a temporary crown, and adjust a temporary crown under the supervision and direction of the doctor
  • Process impressions to be sent to the lab
  • Under Doctor supervision, ensure Nitrous Oxide is delivered
  • Further explain treatment or answer questions concerning treatment
  • Gain the trust of the parent and establish rapport necessary to gain the consent of the parent to perform the procedure
