Registered Behavior Technician – Lutheran Services of Georgia – Savannah, GA

Summary
The RBT is responsible for the implementation of behavioral services, serving individuals diagnosed with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a Host Home program, as well as children with exceptional needs in a Foster Care home setting. The RBT will work closely with the Behavior Services Coordinator of Disability and Health Services, in a variety of supportive roles including the day-to-day implementation of specific therapeutic programs consistent with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), designed to teach practical life skills through Discrete Trail Training (DTT) in the home and community settings as well as day program services.

Essential Functions BCBA, RBTs, and Caregivers to serve program participants.

  • Makes regular and unscheduled visits to the home, school, training site, day program or job of the individuals served as needed.
  • Monitors individuals and caregivers for progress and Behavior Support Plan implementation.
  • Responds to behavioral crises for statewide programs to support safety practices.
  • Maintains accurate, current, and complete service records according to established timelines, policies, procedures, funding sources, grants, and/or contracts.
  • Implements treatments in accordance with individualized Behavior and Safety Plans.
  • Respond to behavioral crises in host homes and foster homes by supporting caregivers during episodes in which program participants display behaviors determined to be a danger to themselves or others.
  • Utilizes methods of non-violent crisis intervention techniques, to ensure the safety of the individual, and all other involved parties.
  • Travels to different parts of the state, with a focus on specific regions.
  • Embraces a data-driven organization and uses dashboards and the PQI process to monitor progress and compliance.
  • Audits a sample of approved documents, within case files, to ensure quality documentation for Medicaid billing and DBHDD compliance.
  • Ensures the program meets or exceeds PQI and other critical data targets including, but not limited to, Quality Improvement Plan, Strategic Plan goals, Key Performance Indicators, and Critical Data Entry.
  • Enters reports/activities in Extended Reach and ensures program compliance with required documentation and trainings.
  • Provides training and follow up to correct any areas of need with collaboration from the Quality staff.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications/Competencies:

  • Must possess RBT designation or be eligible to obtain.
  • Must be competent in training adult learners, staff and caregivers.
  • Must maintain all requirements for current licensure.
  • Must complete all assigned Relias and other trainings annually.
  • Must be skilled at working independently in a remote setting.
  • Must have the ability to communicate with all persons in a professional and culturally competent manner.
  • Must be highly skilled at working in a collaborative manner with other team members.
  • Must pass a comprehensive background check including work references and criminal background check.
  • Must be computer and internet literate with competencies in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and database/electronic case management system.
  • Must hold a valid Georgia Driver’s license, possess a reliable personal, multi-passenger vehicle, and have personal auto insurance and a good driving record.

Supervisory Responsibility
Supervision of program participants while performing training.

Work Environment
This job operates in a remote office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. This job also requires the independent use of a motor vehicle.

Physical Demands
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some lifting is required. This would require the ability to lift, bend, or stand as necessary. This job also requires the independent use of a motor vehicle.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. This position may also require on-call hours as assigned.

Travel
Up to 50% travel.

Required Education and Experience

  • Highschool diploma.
  • One-two (1-2) year(s) experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • RBT Certification
  • ABA coursework
  • Experience with Crisis Management
