Position Type: Full-Time

Position Summary:

Easterseals-Project Excel is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant for their preschool program under the guidance of the Program Director.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Administer physical therapy patient care programs, as planned with and directed by the Physical Therapist (PT) and treatment team.
  • Assist the PT when performing tests, evaluations and/or complex treatment procedures.
  • Follow established departmental procedures and observes safety precautions during treatment implementation.
  • Document patient progress, maintain charts in accordance with departmental protocols and confer regularly with the supervising PT to advance the patient’s program effectively.
  • Provides written and/or illustrated home exercise program when appropriate.
  • Attend and participate in staff and team meetings, in-service programs and continuing education.
  • Maintain accurate patient treatment records and equipment charges, and submit required statistical and billing information.
  • Prepare formal progress and/or discharge summary notes (co-signed by PT) to physicians in a timely manner.
  • Assist the maintenance and organization of the work area and equipment noting safety and serviceable defects.
  • Provide physical therapy, directed by the treating PT, at contract sites as assigned by Clinical Coordinator.
  • Exhibit good judgement in unsupervised settings.
  • Maintain utilization in acceptable ranges.
  • Adhere to the Department Policy and Procedure Manual and to the APTA Professional Guidelines.
  • Perform additional duties as requested.

Experience and Education:

  • Associates Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited college or university.
  • Registered or eligible for registry by the appropriate state board.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well as a rehabilitation team member incorporating initiative, good judgement and communication skills, good health and emotional stability.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
