Intake Clinicians performs SDA and scheduled clinical biopsychosocial assessments of new consumers preadmitted by Central Navigation. Determines eligibility for Jefferson Center services based on presenting problem, diagnostic assessment, ASAM Criteria (SUD) and payor source in accordance with established Jefferson Center practices. Completes all opening paperwork, pre-authorizations and as indicated schedules follow-up clinician, group and MD appointments.

Intake clinicians play a crucial role at Jefferson Center for our clients and staff. By engaging with and assessing the need of our consumers, you will bridge individuals seeking Behavioral Health services into receiving the help and support from a large Community Mental Health Center. At their first visit, Intake clinicians assess for diagnostic criteria in a trauma and culturally informed capacity. Support and brief therapeutic interventions received at this appointment, set clients up for success. Communication and team work are key as the ongoing treatment team receives completed assessments and other required paperwork in order to streamline treatment.

Responsibilities:


Essential Duties:

  • Performs clinical assessments on assigned consumers, completing all elements of the standard Jefferson Center intake assessment, including SBIRT, Mental Status Exam, DSM V diagnosis and ASAM Criteria (SUD Only).

  • Involves family members and representatives from other agencies in the evaluation process, as appropriate.

  • Determines eligibility for services based on presenting issues, diagnostic

    Formulation, ASAM Criteria and established payor-source guidelines.

  • Schedules follow-up clinician, group and MD appointments as appropriate according to Jefferson Center practices.

  • Consults with Emergency team when consumer presents with high lethality or other emergent concerns.

  • Maintains appropriate professional standards and provides appropriate follow-up for consumers.

  • Reports high risk/problem cases, and utilizes a problem solving, team approach as well as feedback.

  • Adheres to all Jefferson Center Policies and Procedures.


Other Duties (Productivity Performance Measures, Professional Growth/Development, Relationships/Communication)

  • Attends mandatory in-services, compliance with individualized training plan if required.
  • Attends supervision at times and intervals agreed upon with supervisor.
  • Completes 90% of all Progress-to-Date forms within 3 working days.
  • Completes 95% of all paperwork by the due date.
  • Meet required number of consumer service hours as determined by Network Director.
  • Engages consumer and family in the treatment process and goal-setting. Identifies risk factors including lethality.
  • Works constructively with consumer to reach agreed upon outcome, and coordinates care with internal and external providers.
  • Maintains appropriate professional standards and provides appropriate follow-up for consumers.
  • Exhibits enthusiasm, courtesy, adaptability, flexibility, and spirit of cooperation in the work environment.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills to develop therapeutic alliance with consumers and to work effectively and with cultural competence with consumers from diverse backgrounds.
  • Addresses the whole health needs of the client by ensuring that appropriate releases are in place for physical health care providers, making appropriate referrals as needed when significant physical health needs are a consideration.
  • Maintains effective interpersonal relations with consumers, peers, subordinates, upper management, visitors and the general public.
  • Effectively responds to client/consumer needs and problems, initiates and maintains positive interactions, timely response to phone calls, email and other requests.
  • Works cooperatively with other community agencies, as appropriate, and in agreement with supervisor.
  • Utilizes a range of appropriate clinical and recovery focused interventions according to clinical need, or refers as indicated, to trauma specific treatment, wellness classes/coaching, co-occurring/substance use services, and employment services.
  • Have an understanding of how trauma impacts the lives of the people being served, so that every interaction is consistent with the recovery process and reduces the possibility of retraumatization.
  • Participate in the Center’s training/educational programs designed to enhance knowledge about Trauma Informed Care, the impact of trauma and trauma recovery.
  • Ensure that delivery practices are guided by the principles of trauma informed care and the principles of addiction treatment.


Certified Addiction Counselors (CAS) and Licensed Addiction Counselors (LAC) Additional Duties:

  • Attends the quarterly CAS/LAC business meetings in order to stay abreast of regulations and policies governing substance abuse treatment.
  • Participate in CAS group supervision per OBH regulations. CAS (CAC II), 2 hours each month, CAS (CAC III) or LAC, one hour each month.
  • Provide CAS/LAC in training group or individual supervision to staff obtaining their certification (CAC III or LAC only) and/or assist with supervising or mentoring new license eligible clinicians.
  • Completes required paperwork for substance use treatment licenses and billing to Medicaid and other funding sources, including Substance Abuse ROI, Substance Use Assessment, Out-of-State Offender Questionnaire, Infectious Disease Acknowledgment Statement, ASAM Criteria and pre-authorizations for SUD IOP and Residential levels of care for all consumers requesting SUD services.

Qualifications:


Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:

  • Master’s Degree (from accredited university/college) in counseling, psychology, social work or related field required.

  • Clinical licensure (LPC, LMFT, LCSW) preferred, or ability to obtain license within a few months of hire.

  • One year of documented relevant experience and/or training.
  • CAS (CAC III) or LAC preferred or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.

  • Bilingual Preferred

Salary & Benefits:


2021 Salary Range:


Grade 51-Master’s Unlicensed Clinician

  • $41,500 to $52,500**
  • Salary is determined based on years of total relevant experience.
  • Salary is based on 1.0 FTE (full time equivalent) or 40 hours per week. Less than 40 hours/week will be prorated and adjusted to the appropriate FTE.


Grade 52-Licensed Clinician (LCSW, LMFT, LPC)

  • $49,600 to $63,000
  • Salary is determined based on years of total relevant experience.
  • Salary is based on 1.0 FTE (full time equivalent) or 40 hours per week. Less than 40 hours/week will be prorated and adjusted to the appropriate FTE.


**BONUS OPPORTUNITY!! Three phase bonus paid out using the following schedule. ** Based on full time (40 hours/week). Prorate if less than 40 hours/week. Must work a minimum of 20 hours/week to be eligible for bonus.
