Direct Support Professional (Strawberry Farms)

Creative Options is looking for a few special people to support individuals with developmental disabilities in a residential setting. As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) you will assist individuals with activities that foster independence, facilitate community involvement, and enhance the overall quality of life. Responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Supervising, supporting, and guiding the individual through regular daily activities.
- Assistance with meal preparation.
- Assist with grocery shopping and/or provide transportation to and from grocery store.
- Supporting the learning of social, domestic, and life skills.
- Medication administration.
- Providing personal care, toileting, and/or hygiene assistance.
- Using a personal vehicle to provide transportation to and from an individual’s place of employment, medical appointments, and other community activities.
- Facilitate activities centered around the individual’s wants, needs, and goals.
- Performing or assisting with household chores like laundry, dishes, vacuuming, dusting, etc.
- Monitoring the individual’s general emotional and physical well-being.
Requirements for this position upon hire:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must possess a high school diploma/GED (proof must be shown upon hire).
- Must have reliable transportation. Drivers must show proof of a valid license, auto insurance, and an acceptable driving record (less than 6 points) upon hire.
- Successful clearance of reference and state and/or federal background checks.
- Must be reliable.
- Must be able to read, write, and understand the English language.
- Ability to effectively adapt to different situations, sometimes often.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Must have the physical ability to lift, push, or carry up to 50 lbs, and walk, climb, kneel, squat, or crouch, as needed, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must have excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills.
- Must have experience with or be willing to learn how to effectively redirect behaviors (CPI a plus!).
- Must have the ability to remain active for extended periods of time.
- Must have a positive attitude, friendly demeanor, and strong sense of accountability.
