DESCRIPTION OF WORK

A caseworker is responsible for the ensuring the safety, permanency and well-being of the children in the county. Responsibilities include providing casework and counseling services to abused and neglected children and their families. This includes but is not limited to preparing documentation and providing testimony in court related cases, participation in meetings, assessing and investigating allegations of abuse and neglect and referring the child and family for the appropriate services. The caseworker must abide by the appropriate policies, procedures, laws and regulations.

In this position, a caseworker will work collaboratively with educators, medical personnel, law enforcement, courts and other professionals to ensure that children reside in safe, permanent environments. Documentation of case activity is required as established by regulations. Training is required and provided for the employee. Caseworkers find fulfillment in ensuring permanency for children through legal custodianships and adoptions.

Work Hours: 8:30 am – 4:30 pm (M-F) with a 30 minute lunch.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

Qualifications:


  • You must have successfully examined and have a current score on file. If you have not already done so, you must first apply to the COUNTY CASEWORKER 2 – CHILDREN AND YOUTH (ONLINE EXAM) posting and follow the directions provided.
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • Hiring Preference for this vacancy will be given to candidates who live within Jefferson, Clarion, Clearfield or Indiana Counties. If no eligible candidates who live within these counties apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
