The Chief Medical Officer is responsible for supporting business development activity and guides the strategy, development and implementation in coordination with other senior clinical leaders of innovative clinical programs that require collaboration with strategic business partners.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Lead and implement the clinical direction for the organization
  • Keep abreast of emerging models in health care delivery; identify and define new and innovative strategies to achieve business goals and objectives
  • Active engagement in business development and account management opportunities to include presenting business and clinical capabilities to employers, health plans, resellers and other key constituents
  • Active contribution to product development, enhancements and innovation efforts
  • Provides clinical support and expertise to ensure the delivery of quality healthcare products and services
  • Identify opportunities to collaborate and develop clinical integration opportunities with owners and other health delivery systems to achieve world-class outcomes
  • Drive the development of defensible clinical quality measures with analytics personnel and/or delivery team
  • Develop clinical approach for incorporation and/or adoption of new payment models (e.g., case mix/hybrid/value based/risk based payment structures)
  • Support the creation and maintenance of clinical quality committees and performance review
  • Participate in senior management business and clinical strategy development and implementation
  • Build and leverage cross functional collaborative relationships to achieve shared company goals
  • Promote clinical collaboration to both internal and external healthcare team members
  • Maintain compliance with ConsumerMedical’s policies, procedures and mission statement
  • Adhere to all confidentiality and HIPAA requirements as outlined within ConsumerMedical’s Operating Policies and Procedures in all ways and at all times with respect to any aspect of the data handled or services rendered in the undertaking of the position
  • Fulfill those responsibilities and/or duties that may be reasonably provided by ConsumerMedical for the purpose of achieving operational and financial success of the Company


Preparation, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • A current unrestricted license to practice medicine
  • Certified by the American Board of Medical Specialties in his/her respective specialty.
  • A minimum of 5 years professional post-residency experience in direct patient care
  • Knowledge of clinical advocacy and decision support models and constructs
  • Experience with regional or national health plans and employer markets
  • Proven experience as a thought leader in the industry
  • Strategic and innovative thinker with proven ability to communicate a vision and drive result
  • Demonstrated management, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to solve problems and execute on initiatives
  • Ability to work collaboratively internally and externally including excellent client and/or prospect communication skills
  • Self-assured and results oriented
  • Demonstrated ability to assess business needs, design and implement programs and evaluate results
  • MBA or Master’s degree in healthcare field preferred
  • Travel required: Up to 50%
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, PPT, Outlook)


General Expectations

  • Travel. Travel to locations other than the primary office where Employee will be located may be necessary in the provision of the Employee services. In particular for the role of Chief Medical Officer an expectation around travel is high given the role’s support of business development.
  • Business Hours & Time Dedication. It is generally expected that the Employee shall be reasonably available to Employer and/or Employer’s clients for the performance of the Employee services. Although the nature of the business engaged in by Employer typically requires Employee services to be performed during weekdays, between 8:30 AM ET and 5:00 PM ET (“Regular Business Hours”). Additionally, certain periods of time and project characteristics may frequently necessitate the performance of Employee services during days and times other than, and for durations longer than, the aforementioned Regular Business Hours.
  • Location. The primary office of Employee will be determined by location of Employee. Daily onsite business operation presence is expected during agreed upon days during which the company is open for business except during business-related travel and holiday and/or vacation/personal days off.
  • Leadership. The position outlined is expected to require significant energy, self-motivation, perseverance, and leadership to successfully execute.
  • General Excellence. The position outlined, in addition to Employer’s overall goals, requires a high level of overall excellence and dedication.
