We are searching for a Chief Engineer, Laundry Maintenance to take on a leadership position in our Engineering Department in Yellowstone National Park.

The Chief Engineer, Laundry Maintenance, is responsible for providing excellent customer service and support to our Laundry Department. This position is responsible for the proper maintenance and repair of all Gardiner laundry equipment. This position requires a BoilerOperators License or a minimum of 5 year’s experience; 3 years of supervisory and management experience. Check out our Engineering Department HERE.

  • Schedule: ~40+ Hours Per Week
  • Location: The Engineering Department is based out of Mammoth Hot Springs in the park
  • Housing: Typically our year round staff live in Gardiner, Emigrant or Livingston, MT


The Must Haves

  • Valid Boiler Operator’s License
  • 5 years equivalent experience in a Boiler Operator role
  • 3 years of employee supervisory and management experience

Responsibilities:


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure proper maintenance and repair of all Gardiner laundry equipment is performed in a timely, professional and economical manner.
  • Responsible for specifying & identifying equipment replacement, as necessary, in Yellowstone and possibly other properties.
  • Maintain and coordinate the computerized maintenance management system, related documents, materials and parts requisitioning and storage to support the laundry operations.
  • Recruit, train and supervise laundry maintenance staff at multiple locations.
  • Provide a clean, healthy and safe work environment for all laundry personnel.
  • Conduct periodic tool, parts and material inventories to ensure adequate levels are maintained for efficient and timely maintenance and repairs.
  • Coordinate work activities with Manager of Laundry Operations, Facilities and Projects Management Office and outside agencies. Provide feedback and support to staff and supervisors within the laundry and other locations as necessary.
  • Obtain timely technical assistance and then perform consultation with laundry operation and maintenance staff, Facility & Project Management staff, and other agencies as requested.
  • Comply with and enforce company policies and procedures and the Gardiner Laundry Management Plan.
  • Performs others duties as assigned by the Laundry Operations Department and the Facility and Project Management Department.
  • Responsible for adhering to Xanterra’s Ecologix program.

Qualifications:


SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:


  • Must have a Boiler Operators license or 5 years equivalent experience.
  • Must have at least 3 years of employee supervisory and management experience.
  • Must have extensive knowledge of building maintenance systems, institutional laundry equipment and other mechanical equipment such as rotating machinery, compressed air systems, fluid and hydraulic pumps, electro-mechanical switching gear, water treatment systems, and HVAC systems.
  • Must possess Word and Excel computer skills and be able to create documents and spreadsheets for tracking labor budget and other components.
  • Must be able to read, understand and comply with all current company policies and procedures.
  • Must be at least 21 years old and possess a clean valid driver’s license/record for the past three years.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • This position may require the use of respiratory protection and will require compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Must be able to walk long distances over uneven terrain and climb stairs and ladders in all types of weather conditions and hot boiler rooms.
  • Must be capable of lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand, bend, kneel, and crawl for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to differentiate colors as required for boiler water testing.
