SUMMARY:
The Cloud Network Engineer reports to the Director of Cloud Operations and is responsible for overall cloud network support, configuration, implementation and daily maintenance of the cloud services network. The Cloud Network Engineer I is responsible for supporting the architecture, design and assurance of information security mechanisms and services throughout the cloud services division. Additionally, the engineer is responsible for managing new customer router configurations working directly with MEDITECH and the customer to complete all new installations and provide appropriate support. The position will also be responsible for the general maintenance, patching, upgrades, and other proactive services related to the network infrastructure.
The engineer will work with the support, engineering, architect and management teams to develop appropriate procedures, guidelines, training and other materials for the life cycle of cloud services as related to networking. Additionally, the engineer will be responsible for ensuring monitoring of the health and utilization of the network infrastructure to ensure optimal availability and performance across the cloud spectrum. The engineer will provide excellent customer service in all customer interactions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrate strong knowledge and troubleshooting skills in general networking, advanced router and switch management and configuration; VPN technologies, Internet and WAN circuit management.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge in implementing and maintaining security controls such as firewalls, physical controls, IPSec, VLAN, VPN, encryption, SSL, vulnerability scanning and remediation, and security monitoring.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service, communication and human relationship skills when dealing with customers, fellow co-workers and vendors.
  • Provide expert level support for incidents to insure operational systems are returned to service as soon as possible and prevent the re-occurrence of incidents by supporting the problem management process.
  • Establish and follow security procedures, standards, and protocols related to stated technologies.
  • Establish capacity, performance, and availability monitoring thresholds, alerts, and actions for automated event management.
  • Establish standards for availability and business continuity and test related systems against the standard on a defined basis.
  • Support change and release management by having defined release plans, developing and implement changes requests, while having defined back out plans, and after action reviews of failed changes.
  • Train, mentor, and develop others where needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Experience:

  • Three to five years of progressive experience in implementing, configuring, and supporting complex network infrastructure, including WAN circuits, virtualization, Internet connectivity, cloud services, and VPN technologies such as IPSEC required.
  • Experience with supporting advanced blade architecture networking such as Cisco UCS and HP Blades including VMWare server virtualization a plus. (or preferred)
  • Knowledge of security and contingency planning concepts, including data integrity, authentication and authorization, firewall topologies as applied to multi-tenant cloud deployments, encryption, VPNs, network security architecture and protocols; intrusion detection and prevention system management required.
  • Technical knowledge of router protocols such as IGRP, EIGRP, RIP, and OSPF required.
  • Experience providing MEDITECH VPN support and implementation expertise strongly preferred.
  • Experience with audit logging, security incident management, SNMP, syslog, and performance monitoring tools strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with and ability to troubleshoot circuits and networking technologies (WAN, LAN, Internet) and advanced protocols required.
  • Good understanding of all Windows Operating Systems, virtualization, and various hardware platforms preferred.
  • Experience with MEDITECH as they relate to network delivery is preferred for this position.
  • Education or equivalent experience in ITIL, Cobit, HIPAA, PCI DSS Security or Compliance work preferred for this position
  • Excellent documentation, problem solving, time-management, and customer service skills required for this position.

Education:

  • Bachelor degree in Information Management, Computer Science, or other related field or an equivalent amount of experience is preferred for this position.
  • Certifications or Licenses: *
  • Professional Level Certifications in Cisco required
  • CCIE and CCNP Certifications considered a plus.
  • CISSP Certification considered a plus.
  • ITIL certification preferred.
  • Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: *
  • Excellent customer service skills required.

TRAVEL REQUIRED:
Approximately 20% Travel
