The Manager/Sr. Manager Medical Affairs Operations is responsible for managing the execution of medical affairs strategic initiatives and operational activities while working cross-functionally to ensure the medical affairs team meets business objectives on time and within budget. The Manager/Sr. Manager will work cross functionally and very closely with various levels of the organization and is responsible for providing problem solving, analytical and other project management support for the team.

Who is Omeros?

Omeros is a commercial-stage biopharmaceutical company committed to discovering, developing and commercializing small-molecule and protein therapeutics for large-market and orphan indications targeting inflammation, complement-mediated diseases, disorders of the central nervous system and immune-related diseases, including cancers. In addition to its commercial product OMIDRIA (phenylephrine and ketorolac intraocular solution) 1%/0.3%, Omeros has multiple phase 3 and phase 2 clinical-stage development programs focused on complement-mediated disorders and substance abuse. Omeros also has a diverse group of preclinical programs including GPR174, a novel target in immuno-oncology that modulates a new cancer immunity axis recently discovered by Omeros. Small-molecule inhibitors of GPR174 are part of Omeros’ proprietary G proteincoupled receptor (GPCR) platform through which it controls 54 new GPCR drug targets and their corresponding compounds. The company also exclusively possesses a novel antibody-generating platform.

What are your job responsibilities?

  • Apply project management experience and technical knowledge in the development, initiation, planning, execution, maintenance, and closing of projects as well as other departmental initiatives
  • Plan and facilitate regular meetings to ensure projects and plans move forward and milestones are achieved
  • Develops and tracks high-quality medical projects, ensuring alignment between overall program strategy and cross-functional plans
  • Conducts project status briefings and develops relevant supporting communications and analyses such as dashboards, progress to plan, and resource allocation
  • Assists with risk mitigation planning, highlighting risks, timeline delays and other issues and identifying project contingencies
  • Effectively communicates to meet the needs of key stakeholders across teams and utilizes appropriate methods to deliver relevant and clear content and information
  • Monitors project budget/spending and performs needed interventions on unexpected run rates, scope expansion, etc. and may negotiate changes to budget allocation
  • Responsible for coordinating the Grants and Contribution Committee (GCC) including corporate donations, educational grants, sponsorships and humanitarian donations
  • Responsibilities include agenda development, preparing material for review, and presiding over this executive-level meeting
  • Communicates with the requestors, collaborates to secure agreements, and tracks metrics for CME and other programs to ensure compliance with terms and to report back to GCC, as appropriate
  • Responsible for cross-functional congress planning, with the objective to feature strategic, targeted, and compliant disease state education information (DSE) and clinical trial recruitment material at scientific congresses
  • Successful implementation ensures that Omeros is represented at top tier meetings at a level of sponsorship consistent with the tier and the approved budget and that key internal personnel are engaged in the planning and execution
  • Work collaboratively with vendors for the booth build, both live and virtual, ensuring the team has access to sessions of interest and leading the cross functional preconference meeting and debrief sessions
  • Content requires Medical Review Committee (MRC) review and knowledge of virtual platforms
  • Vendor collaboration is critical to ensure robust and compliant educational material is presented
  • Omidria Cross-Functional Point for Medical Affairs, including regular presentation of project status
  • Omidria Publication Coordinator responsible for coordinating the activities of external medical writers with the Publications Lead
  • Investigator Initiated Trial (IIT) Coordinator responsible for coordinating the intake, review and communications relating to IIT submissions and decisions
  • Omidria Medical Information point responsible for managing medical information requests through the MRC review and approval process and coordinating responses with the medical information vendor
  • Medical Affairs MSL Operations support responsible for tracking metrics, interfacing with Veeva CRM to maximize utility and functionality
  • Responsible for planning advisory boards and contracting health care providers

Education, Experience, Skills, and Knowledge Required:

  • Relevant degree and/or certifications/credentials in strategic project management
  • Significant prior work history as a project manager
  • 3+ years of prior work-related experience in the healthcare industry
  • Pharmaceutical industry and Medical Affairs experience preferred
  • Proven track record to project manage and succeed
  • The ability to analyze, negotiate, and manage/measure work including effective problem solving and systems thinking skills
  • Effective conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to all levels of the organization including executive management
  • Fluent in English, both orally and written
  • Ability to effectively assess, plan, and prepare recommendations regarding team objectives
  • Strong interpersonal skills with experience leading cross-functional teams in a matrix environment; skilled at explaining technical, complex, or sensitive information, build alignment around a topic and influence others to take action
  • A high level of confidence, integrity and hands on approach to problem solving are required as well as a professional executive presence for interacting with and influencing senior management internally
  • The ability to analyze, negotiate, and manage/measure work including effective problem solving and systems thinking skills
  • Able to independently manage multiple priorities and follow tasks through to completion, including navigating and removing critical roadblocks
  • Strong ability to communicate complex issues in a simple way and to orchestrate plans to resolve issues and mitigate risks
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, innovative environment while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient
  • Results-driven with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to take a new perspective on existing solutions; works independently, escalating issues or engaging senior staff for highly complex or high impact issues as needed
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
