Under the supervision of the medical director and/or supervising psychiatrist, the Psych NP will provide continuous and comprehensive services necessary for the promotion of optimal mental health, prevention and treatment of psychiatric disorders and health maintenance of residents in a nursing home. This includes the assessment, diagnosis and management of mental health problems and psychiatric disorders. The Psych NP will work collaboratively with other onsite medical and mental health providers.
This facility will require 1/2 to 3/4 day per week. The pay is excellent either way and some of our Full-time Psych NP’s make over 175+K/year. For the 1 day a week this position requires, the pay works out to be a very good rate for the time required. Many of our Psych NP’s have other positions or cover multiple facilities.
Duties will include:
- Review psychotropic medications in accordance with CSM guidelines.
- Make medication recommendations to the medical staff onsite and follow up for medication effectiveness.
- Offer guidance and instruction related to psychiatric illnesses to staff at designated facility.
- Meet monthly for over site from supervising psychiatrist to review charts and receive education/guidance.
- Maintain open communications with patients, families and/or responsible parties, facility staff and attending physicians.
- Maintain a customer-oriented approach to meeting patient needs in an expedient manner, involving others in the plan of care as appropriate.
- Maintain confidentiality and upholds highest level of professionalism.
- Communicate at all levels of organization and work well within a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- PMHNP Certification from either AANP or AACC
- 2 years experience working in a psych focused FNP role
