Definition
Under direction, is responsible for supervising staff assigned to rental service operations; performs related duties as required.

Supervises rental service section staff by assigning work, monitoring and reviewing work performed, conducting performance evaluations, approving leave requests, and recommending disciplinary actions;

  • Delegates and assigns tasks to rental services staff engaged in facility set-up and breakdown for events, weddings, and banquets;
  • Recruits, trains, and schedules employees engaged in all aspects of rental service operations;
  • Monitors all rental services facilities including enclosed shelter houses, open-air shelter houses, wedding venues, and marinas;
  • Assesses rental facilities for safety and maintenance needs; coordinates with appropriate parties;
  • Plans for and requisitions supplies, equipment, and materials needed for events and rental service operations;
  • Maintains records and prepares reports, memos, and letters regarding facility usage, operations and maintenance activities;
  • Operates City vehicle while monitoring multiple facilities each day;
  • May investigate complaints directed towards rental service operations, facility, and/or personnel.

Minimum Qualifications
Two (2) years of experience assisting with hospitality management, event coordination, event set-up, guest services, facility or banquet set-up, or other closely related field. Substitution(s): College education may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis (thirty (30) semester/forty-five (45) quarter hours equals one (1) year).

Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.

The names of the applicants passing this administration of this exam will be used to create a NEW, OPEN COMPETITIVE, eligible list for this classification. If you are interested in having your name included on the new eligible list, you will need to apply for this exam within the filing period and successfully complete all phases of the testing process. The examination process will consist of a multiple-choice exam weighted 80% covering Supervision, Reading Comprehension, Problem Sensitivity, Logic and Reasoning, and Information Ordering; an OPAC exam weighted 20% covering Word, Excel, and Outlook (2010).

The exam is expected to be administered in October 2021. Approved applicants will be notified by mail/email of their scheduled test date and time.

All applicants must complete all phases of the testing process in order to receive a final score. The names of all candidates who pass this examination will remain on the eligible list for two years, unless the eligible list is replaced prior to or extended beyond the two years. If a candidate’s name is certified and the candidate is to be considered for employment, the hiring process will include one or more interviews, a criminal background check, and a pre-employment drug test. For any position within the Division of Police, the hiring process will also include the completion of an extensive personal history questionnaire and a polygraph examination.
