Rockford Center is a 138-bed mental health facility located in Newark, DE, providing easy access to a full complement of inpatient and partial behavioral health programs for children and adolescents, adults, and older adults. Rockford is the only child inpatient behavioral health facility in DE, offers an experienced and tenured senior management team, and serves New Castle County and northern Maryland.

In this rewarding role, you will provide direct patient care to geriatrics, adults, adolescents and children with psychiatric disorders to ensure the safety and well-being of our patients.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Conducts ongoing and individualized nursing care duties as assigned
  • Reports change in patient physical, mental status or episodes of seclusion or restraint to nurse manager or supervisor during each shift
  • Collaborates with other team members in the development, implementation, and evaluation of an individualized plan of care
  • Performs treatments and therapies as ordered by physician in an appropriate and timely fashion
  • Administer patient medications as prescribed by physician
  • Assessing vital signs and accu-checks prior to dispensing medications
  • Provide education to patients on their prescribed medications, documenting this in the patient record

Job Requirements:

  • Education: Associates or Bachelor’s Degree with an emphasis in Nursing. Strong communication skills, excellent customer service and organization skills, highly effective listening skills, and strong clinical skills.
  • Experience: Two (2) years of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.
  • Additional Requirements: CPR certification and Completion of Handle With Care training within 90 days of employment.
