ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENTIST / ENGINEER – Oneida ESC Group – Marietta, GA

Sustainment & Restoration Services (SRS) is an 8(a) firm that provides engineering, science, construction, munitions, and specialized professional services solutions for customers nationwide.
SRS has immediate openings in our Marietta, GA office for entry to mid-level scientists and/or engineers to support current contracts with USEPA, DOD, USACE, USAF and other Federal clients. Responsibilities include performing multi-media environmental sampling investigations at potential hazardous waste sites, conducting oversight of removal activities at hazardous waste sites, and responses to large-scale environmental incidents and disaster situations such as industrial accidents, spills, fires, hurricanes, and floods. Job Description

  • Conduct field sampling and air-monitoring during environmental investigations, including various multi-media sampling (soil, sediment, air, water, etc.).
  • Collect documentation (log notes and photos) and conduct contractor oversight during incidents and remediation activities.
  • Generate reports and provide analysis with interpretation of findings.
  • Prepare technical products for reports, field trips, and presentations.
  • Provide data management during field events or large-scale events.
  • Prepare work plans, sampling plans, and technical correspondence.
  • Compile field notes documenting incident/facility history, parties/agencies involved, sampling and air-monitoring locations, and response activities.
  • Attend and participate in meetings with clients and the general public.
  • Provide the client technical support during emergency response situations.
  • Participate in readiness training with Agencies and other stakeholders/States.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications

  • BS in Chemistry, Biology, Geology, Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
  • 0 to 5 years of experience
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% on average, and on occasion up to 75%.
  • Strong organizational, technical writing and communication skills.
  • Positive attitude with good interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of environmental sampling or waste sampling techniques.
  • Knowledge of field screening equipment such as air-monitoring equipment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office including Word and Excel.
  • Self-starter, flexible, team player, willing to work on a wide variety of tasks with minimum supervision.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Authorization for permanent, full-time employment in the United States.
  • Drug/Alcohol screening and a Background and Credit check is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training.
  • Strong computer skills, and experience collecting and managing data.
  • Experience with ArcGIS mapping and data.
  • Proficiency in database software including MS Access or Equis.
  • Experience with EPA sampling protocols.
  • Knowledge of RCRA, CERCLA, and other federal environmental regulations.
  • Knowledge of any relevant EPA-software such as Scribe or RCMS;
  • Knowledge or experience within the Incident Command System (ICS).

NOTE: Applicants must be able to work in difficult outdoor conditions of extreme heat or cold, in locations that feature rough terrain typical of construction sites and to enter and work within facilities that include limited accessibility, moving machinery, and other conditions typical of industrial facilities. Job assignments may involve work on sites requiring cleanup of hazardous materials in Personal Protective Equipment such as respirators and Tyvek. Participation in a medical surveillance program is required and safety training will be provided before being assigned to work on these sites.
