Position Overview

The Vice President, Strategy & Development will work as a member of the strategic development team of Americas Materials (AMAT). In this capacity, the VP will partner with the Senior Vice President of Strategy & Development, Division Presidents, Company Presidents and other members of the senior leadership team across AMAT on various strategy development initiatives and acquisition projects. Work location is Atlanta, Georgia.


Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Key responsibilities of the position include:


  • Contribute to the process to refine the Group strategy and development plan
  • Analyze multiple markets and strategic acquisition opportunities
  • Build rapport internally across the organization and externally among the leaders of potential acquisitions, industry influencers and other consultative entities, ensuring strong partnerships and a robust pipeline of potential acquisitions
  • Build analytical models and perform financial analysis to value acquisition opportunities, providing clear explanations and make well-founded recommendations to executive leadership
  • Lead the end-to-end acquisition (M&A) process including identifying strategic fit, building acquisition team, business assessment, due diligence, valuation, contract negotiation, integration and post-closing issue resolution
  • Regularly interface up through the CEO and act as a thought partner for senior leaders who seek input on key strategic and acquisition decisions
  • Partner with the other AMAT Development staff and the CRH Development Group to coordinate and align M&A strategy and facilitate the acquisition process
  • Other duties as assigned by management


Qualifications

Education/Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree required (mining, engineering or other technical field preferred)
  • MBA highly preferred
  • 5-10 years of relevant experience including a combination of operations/general management and corporate development, consulting, investment banking or private equity is highly preferred

Work Requirements


  • Must have expert proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Must be 18 years in age or older.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Willingness to work independently within in a team environment and assist the team with other duties as required.
  • Must be able to able to work under time constraints and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Travel approximately 40% with brief periods to 80%

  • Project management skills for large and multidisciplinary projects
  • Business acumen in manufacturing, distribution and/or construction operations including experiences in sales, marketing, engineering, multi-unit operations, finance, purchasing, information technology, legal and regulatory compliance

  • Excellent oral/written communication and presentation skills
  • Listening skills
  • Comfort operating in ambiguous environments
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong coaching, mentoring and team building skills
