SCIENTIST IV – Theoretical Quantum Information – HRL Laboratories, LLC – Malibu, CA

Located in Malibu, California, HRL has been on the leading edge of technology, conducting pioneering research and advancing the state of the art. We are seeking a theoretical physicist, mathematician, computer scientist, or electrical engineer experienced in quantum fault tolerance or algorithms to help develop applications of quantum information processing.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Analyze and design protocols and architectures for quantum information science applications. Present ideas and results in effective technical presentations, write technical papers, reports and proposals. Work effectively in a collaborative environment.


EXPERIENCE DESIRED:
Demonstrated research experience in quantum information science including the development and analysis of fault tolerance protocols, analysis of algorithms, and various applications of quantum information theory.


KNOWLEDGE DESIRED:
In depth understanding of multiple aspects of quantum information theory. Coursework or experience in theoretical computer science. Analysis and/or development of efficient approximation algorithms. Knowledge of discrete mathematics, numerical analysis and scientific computing techniques. Experience with C++ 11 and Python.


EDUCATION DESIRED:
Ph.D. in Physics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or Electrical Engineering


ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Excellent written and verbal communications skills, excellent problem solving skills, ability and desire to work in team environment, ability to spend long periods of time at a computer monitor, and ability to travel.


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

U.S. citizenship. Must be able to obtain and maintain US Government security clearances as required.
