TITLE: Infection Preventionist
EXEMPT STATUS: Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO: Director of Nursing
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Park Springs is seeking a qualified Infection Preventionist (IP) who will be responsible for identifying, investigating, monitoring, and reporting healthcare-associated infections. The IP collaborates with teams and individuals to create infection prevention strategies, provide feedback, and sustain infection prevention strategies.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES
· Conduct research and studies to identify disease patterns in public or within a facility
· Develop programs and initiatives that will reduce the chance of contracting disease
· Conduct interviews to better understand the spread of disease
· Collect samples and conduct lab work to recognize problem areas
· Prepare reports that may be used for community education or to modify health policy
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. RN; Bachelor’s Degree in nursing and four years of clinical experience required
2. Certification in Infection Control and Epidemiology
3. Must have solid understanding of QA principles and be able to recognize and resolve opportunities to improve as well as resolve conflicts between operational practices and guidance
4. Exceptional people/interpersonal skills, written and verbal skills, including public speaking and computer fluency; must be able to be creative as needed
5. Innovative, self-starter with excellent follow-through
