Maintenance & Reliability Engineer

International chemical manufacturing company seeking experienced Maintenance and Reliability Engineer to join our team in Toledo, OH. This position will be responsible for supporting the Maintenance and Reliability team for all short and long term reliability initiatives.

Schedule:

  • Monday – Friday between the hours of 8:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. with some flexibility to have alternative work hours/schedule. 40 hours per week.
  • May require off hours availability on occasion with some evenings, weekend and holiday work depending on business/site needs.

Job Summary:

  • The Maintenance & Reliability (M&R) Engineer serves as the primary point of contact for short- and long-term maintenance and reliability engineering evaluations, with the primary goal of ensuring unit availability and optimizing life cycle costs. The M&R Engineer will interact with the local Maintenance, Operations and EHSS teams as well as the Corporate Asset Integrity team.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for health, safety and environmental performance and awareness in area of responsibility to achieve our goals of no accidents, no harm to people and no harm to the environment. Supports investigation of accidents and near misses.
  • Supports the implementation of the site-wide reliability strategy and associated resource plan that improves production capabilities and ensures efficient and cost-effective maintenance activities.
  • Supports site representation on corporate maintenance and reliability networks to influence development and local implementation of corporate requirements.
  • Ensures that work management processes for maintenance and reliability are being effectively utilized and improved.
  • Ensures that the lost production data for reliability are captured and utilized for continuous improvement.
  • Takes leadership in the development of asset management plans.
  • Optimizes preventive maintenance program.
  • Develops predictive maintenance program.
  • Manages improvement of key performance indicators such as OEE and MTBF/MTTR.
  • Develops equipment reliability plans and strategies.
  • Develops and maintains “bad actors” list of problematic equipment issues.
  • Identifies, develops and implements innovative solutions that address reliability issues.
  • Develops and progresses reliability programs to improve uptime across all plant equipment.
  • Develops programs and policies for auditing and modifying preventative/predictive maintenance programs.
  • Drives a risk-based reliability program using Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), Predictive and Preventive Maintenance, FMEA, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
  • Responsible to achieve the Maintenance & Reliability Engineering objectives agreed annually.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required.
  • Experience (> 5 years) in manufacturing related to maintenance and reliability engineering in a chemical plant or refinery.
  • SAP experience PM preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of batch and continuous chemical manufacturing-based maintenance.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of national statutory / regulatory inspection requirements.
  • Knowledge of inspection/test procedures used to assess vessels, tanks, piping, and heat exchangers.
  • Experience in Process Safety Management (i.e. Mechanical Integrity).
  • Registered Professional Engineer preferred.
  • Certified Lean Six Sigma preferred.
  • Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional preferred.
  • Knowledge of chemical hazards and environmental/fire hazards of raw materials, production and finished products.

Work Environment:

  • Routinely exposed to manufacturing environment including all weather elements including extreme climate changes, dirt, dust, vibrations, odor/unpleasant smells, loud noises and chemicals.
  • Routinely uses office equipment such as computers, phones, scanners and other typical office equipment. Requires use of electronic mail and ERP systems.
  • Routinely in contact with others (face to face, by telephone, computer or otherwise). May include conflict situations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform in an active office environment, including the ability to complete paperwork, work on a computer, handle filing and office equipment and change activities frequently.
  • Maintain a stationary position (sit, stand) and walk, move, climb, bend, stoop, kneel or crouch, climb or balance, use of hands to finger, and reach with hands and arms for extended periods of time.
  • Mobility required to access all areas on site and navigate/operate in close quarters, small rooms, narrow aisles and passageways.
  • Ability to work at heights.
  • Ability to use all channels of communication (i.e. read/write/speak/hear).
  • Vision sufficient to perform above-described tasks with or without correction.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 25 pounds at times repetitively.
  • Comply and pass site regulations for PPE and clearances (i.e.: physical, Respirator Fit Test, etc.).
