General Summary

Performs a wide range of administrative and warehousing functions in support of the inventory control department. Support all receiving, receiving inspection, stockroom or shipping/export functions and may specialize in a specific process such as bar coding or data entry. Participates in customer-working groups. Work assignments require independent action and a high degree of initiative to resolve issues. Provides guidance and training for less senior members of the inventory control organization.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs the physical or administrative tasks involved in the shipping, receiving, storing and distribution of material, parts, supplies and equipment.
  • Identifies process improvements for the following areas: shipping, receiving, storing and distribution of material, parts, supplies and equipment.
  • Unpacks and checks goods received against purchase orders or invoices and rejects unsatisfactory items. Maintains records of received goods and rejections.
  • Performs heavy lifting and operates a forklift. Prepares goods for final shipment; posts weights and shipping charges; and maintains shipping records.
  • Examines parts and distributes materials as needed in the inventory control department and manufacturing area.
  • May prepare kitting packages for utilization in both the production and fulfillment areas.
  • Utilizes Wasp Bar Coding for various functions of the department establish detail instructions for cross functional training.
  • Participates in departmental cross training efforts as lead trainer on all process improvements.

Job Specifications

Minimum of four years’ experience in warehousing, customer service is required. Must have a strong knowledge base with Microsoft Office applications. Requires forklift operator certification and ability to lift up to 60 pounds. Tasks typically include support in the area of shipping and inventory control with process improvements ideas and techniques to increase effectively in the department. Must be U.S. Citizen/U.S. Person.
