Dental Assistant (RDA) – Dental Clinic – Providence Sonoma County – Santa Rosa, CA

We are looking for a Dental Assistant (RDA) for the Dental Clinic Department at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.

Location: Santa Rosa, CA

Work Schedule: Full time – 80 Biweekly hours

Shift: 8 hour, Days

Job Summary:

The Dental Assistant services as a chair-side dental assistant. Responsible for assisting, taking and developing x-rays, operatory set-up and clean-up, sterilizing, taking and pour-up of impressions, and stocking of supplies. Trained in front office tasks, and other activities as needed.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepares operatory for patient care for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • Assists dentist chair-side with pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • Performs appropriate dental treatment for pediatric, adolescents, adult, and geriatrics patients under a dentist’s supervision.
  • Takes and develops X-rays.
  • Works with post-op patients explaining instructions.
  • Charts procedures and maintains consent forms for treatments.
  • Communicates with patients and family members to explain scope of treatment, explain oral hygiene instructions and answer questions within the scope of license and knowledge.
  • Performs routine and scheduled equipment and instrument maintenance.
  • Performs data entry tasks, as well as other front office tasks, as needed.

  • Preferred: Word processing/computer skills and familiarity with front office procedures.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

Education :

  • H.S. Diploma or GED or Coursework/Training: Comparable work experience which satisfies licensing requirements.
  • Coursework/Training – Satisfactory completion of an accredited dental assisting program or Coursework/Training: Comparable work experience which satisfies licensing requirements

Licenses/Certifications:

  • California RDA license.
  • Current CPR.

Preferred Position Qualifications:

Experience : 1 year of experience in a dental office or clinic.

Bilingual : English/Spanish

Coursework/Training : Training in infection control and OSHA standards.
