Certified or Registered Medical Assistant – ReGenesis Health Care Community Health Center – Spartanburg, SC

PURPOSE: To render clinical support in assigned area to meet individualized patient needs, according to dependent and independent medical functions and conformance with recognized medical techniques, procedures, and established standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs selected clinical support and administrative duties, and assists medical providers as part of the clinical care team.
  • Conducts pre-visit planning by reviewing and updating patient charts prior to appointment with recent test results and correspondence.
  • Confers with physician regarding any incomplete patient test/consults or other incomplete orders prior to patient visit.
  • Prepares patients for examination and treatment by escorting them from the waiting area to the exam room and taking histories and vital signs.
  • Prepares, cleans and maintains exam and treatment rooms.
  • Gives injections and draws blood; assists with EKGs, OB/GYN exams, office procedures and other patient care services as directed by provider and/or Director of Nursing.
  • Maintains sample medication records, administers medication upon physician order and responds to medication requests per practice protocols.
  • Prepares and maintains clinical supplies and equipment.
  • Triages and responds to patient communications according to practice policies/procedures.
  • Coordinates care with disease management or case management programs as needed.
  • Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.

Qualifications:

Education– Graduate of an accredited school in Medical Assistance. Valid registration as an Registered Medical Assistant.

Certification– Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification.

Experience/Requirements:

  • One year experience in medical, surgical nursing or other area of specialty.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly stand, walk, sit, bend, use hands to finger, to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms.
  • Visual/hearing ability sufficient to comprehend written/verbal communication. May include close vision and ability to focus.
  • Interact with computer screen for up to six hours at a time
  • Ability to deal effectively with stress
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
