LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) – McKinney Medical Center – Folkston, GA

Works under the direction of the RN Supervisor. Performs the functions of Licensed Practical Nurse in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating all assigned patients care in collaboration with the RN Supervisor and Medical Provider. Position calls for a measure of independent judgment and has the ability to set patient care priorities.

Provides direct and individualized nursing care to an assigned group of patients based on the application of scientific principles, under the supervision of the RN Supervisor/Medical Provider. Assists in preoperative, postoperative, and relevant health teaching for patient and family. Shares responsibility for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care plans and nursing care. Participates in in-service and meetings, sharing knowledge, information and ideas among team members. Participates in emergency care. Records information concisely, accurately, and completely. Document nursing actions implemented and effectiveness of implementation in the progress notes. Communicates assessment data in an orderly fashion by recording, updating, and communicating to the RN or Medical Provider and revising as appropriate. Responsible in facilitating patient flow. Administer medications to patients as ordered, including injections. Explains diagnostic procedures to patients when necessary and clarifies instructions. Able to identify appropriate forms, complete forms, medical records, and/or statistical record keeping as necessary. Assesses medical supply stock and orders replacements as needed through LPN Supervisor. Upon request of the M.D., make referrals to outside agencies. Participates in conferences and meetings as necessary. Participates in any pertinent in-service education planned by the Center to improve job performance. Perform other duties in a dependable, cooperative, “team spirit” manner as tasks are assigned.

Required Skills and Abilities:

Has knowledge and ability to recognize medical emergencies triage appropriately. Has knowledge of medical procedure, which relate to patient educational and health practices. Demonstrated clinical competence. Assumes responsibility for own continued personal and professional growth. Appropriate manner, conduct, and grooming. Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively. Membership and participation in Licensed Practical Nurses Association encouraged. Requires some travel.

Education:

Completion of a formal education program in practical nursing. Current state license. One (1) year of clinical practice preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $13.00 – $19.00 per hour
