Process Improvement Intern – FIKE CORPORATION – Blue Springs, MO

Summary:

Utilizes technical and project management skills to assist Process Improvement engineers to develop and implement process

changes that result in improved operational efficiencies. Assists Process Improvement engineers leading to technical

guidance to cross-functional teams that focus on continual improvement in worker safety, product quality, manufacturing

throughput, and manufacturing costs. Relies on knowledge of engineering principles and/or experience and judgment, Lean

manufacturing knowledge and mentorship by the Process Improvement engineers to plan and accomplish goals.

Responsibilities:

1.Under the direction and guidance of the Process Improvement engineer will support project work in the manufacturing

environment, taking samples, documentation, research and analysis.

2. May assist or support the Process Improvement team with business system related tasks in such as revisions, administration,

routings, and data entry.

3. Assists the Process Improvement engineer with tasks associated with automated production equipment and their

computer/PLC based hydraulic and pneumatic systems, data tool entry, troubleshooting and revisions.

4. Supports maintenance programs such as: preventative and corrective maintenance, predictive maintenance, and asset

management.

5. Supports development and coordination of training programs for shop floor employees.

6. Assists Process Improvement engineer in the research of capital equipment and facilities improvement opportunities.

7. Assists with design and preparation of layouts of plant facilities to optimize utilization and product flow.

8. Assists with new and revised operations and manufacturing documentation including standard work instructions.

9. Assists cross-functional teams in the investigation of root cause and disposition of rejected parts.

10. May participate with various departments and disciplines to support development and implementation of company-wide

changes related to the manufacturing environment and company goals.

11. Assists with preparation and analysis of manufacturing process flows in an effort to increase throughput and efficiencies

utilizing Lean manufacturing tools and techniques.

12. Maintains the confidentiality of all information processed.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk. The employee frequently is

required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit, use hand to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands

and arms. The environment varies between an office setting and plant/shop as well as outdoors as necessary. Proper safety

guidelines must be adhered to.

Job Qualifications:

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering in-progress with a minimum of two years completed towards degree.
