IT Business Application Specialist – Charter Next Generation – Milton, WI

Summary: The IT Business Application Specialist works with IT’s internal business customers, IT department colleagues, and partners; evaluates business processes and supporting systems, anticipating requirements, uncovering improvement opportunities, and developing, then implementing rectifying solutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Partners with the business to identify/define/prioritize business problems with existing business applications/programs or support designs of new or enhanced applications.
  • Communicate, translate, and simplify business requests to ensure acceptance from involved stakeholders on requirement definition, designs, testing, and deployment.
  • Maintains contact/communications with end-customers to ensure systems continually meet or exceed the customers’ expectations.
  • Performs analysis, design, process evaluations, data processing based on business requirements for business applications, and take initiatives to promote adoption among business users/functional areas.
  • Review proposals, statements of work, project documentation for application-related initiatives/projects.
  • Works with technical resources to test application functionality; troubleshoot and resolve data errors/problems.
  • Utilize the workload management tool to document requests/incidents, assign, tracks the progress, and follow-up on initiatives.
  • Supports existing software which may require 24 hours/day 7 days/week coverage.
  • Participate/Contribute to the IT Functional team collaborations and update the team on the latest activities/needs.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills enabling the ability to convey needs, requirements, and solutions to business users.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes and supporting systems. Flexible packaging industry experience a plus.
  • Experience leading both custom and package system development and implementation efforts. PMI certification a plus.
  • Experiences in Project Management, Business Analysis, System Analysis is a plus.
  • Knowledge of VB/SQL/PROGRESS programing language or experience working with architectures or developers is a plus.
  • Exceptional ability to explore value-added ideas, improvement opportunities, elicit requirements, evaluate solutions that are reasonable, actionable, and cost-effective.
  • People skills, with the ability to engage diplomatically with business users and communicate changes that may not be aligned with the original expectations.
  • Basic Data Analysis skillset with Database Background such as knowledge of SQL / Progress DB is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Agile and Waterfall Methodologies, and familiarity with System Development Lifecycle Methodologies preferred.
  • College Graduate, information management/technology or engineering degree or PM/BA education/experiences are preferred.
  • Customer-oriented with a passion for addressing IT’s customers’ needs. Understands that IT succeeds only if IT’s customers succeed.
  • Result-focused, action-oriented, with the ability to understand and willingness to get into system development details when warranted.
  • 2-4 years’ experience developing/implementing/maintaining business applications.
  • Continuous learner who enjoys researching solutions to problems/needs.
  • Demonstrated project leadership skills with a proven track record of success.
  • Ability to travel 20% of the time to support job responsibilities.
