About us:
The role of the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS) Prevention Division is to create healthy communities, in which people have a high quality of life, including: healthy environments at work and in school; supportive communities and neighborhood connections with families and friends; and communities free of substance abuse and mental health problems. ODMHSAS uses the Strategic Prevention Framework to plan and implement effective prevention services. The framework is built on a community-based risk and protective factors approach to prevention – to reduce risk and increase protection. Prevention programs include, but are not limited to, Mental Health First Aid; the Oklahoma Partnership Initiative; the Oklahoma Prevention Needs Assessment; PACT 360; Screening, Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT); underage drinking prevention initiatives; and youth suicide prevention and early intervention initiatives.


About the Position
: The individual selected for this position will work in the Prevention Division Central Office located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma for the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health & Substance Abuse Services. This positon will work under general supervision of the Sr. Director of Prevention Services, develop and manage the day to day operation of designated statewide prevention initiatives, develop and manage sub-recipient contracts, ensure program requirements are met, develop funding proposals and reports, and supervise staff. The incumbent will assure compliance with the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health Services and Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS) standards and best practice requirements in managing and delivering care in programs.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

Master’s degree in public health, social work, psychology, or a related field and five years of program management experience or any related experience to include two years of supervisory experience and one-year budget oversight experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience managing complex initiatives in the education, healthcare, community sectors preferred.

NOTE: No substitution for bachelor’s degree or the required two years of supervisory experience and one-year budget oversight experience.
