This is a CAREER-SEASONAL POSITION, therefore you will be guaranteed at least 26 weeks of work, but not more than 50 weeks in a service year. The season is expected to last 11.5 months. You will be expected to be in non-duty/non-pay status in December.

A Federal employee who is transferring to the National Park Service from another component, bureau or Federal agency and who does not meet the conditions under 5 CFR ยง575.102 is not eligible for a recruitment incentive. – OR-A Relocation Incentive May Be Authorized for a Federal employee when the employee must move, as directed by the National Park Service (NPS) either through a management directed reassignment or selection for employment, to a different location at least 50 miles away from the one where his/her position of record held at time of selection is currently located, due to a need of the NPS. A relocation incentive is not the same as a Permanent Change of Station (PCS) move and, as such, may be granted in conjunction with one another.

This announcement may be used to fill additional positions if identical vacancies occur within 90 days of the issue date of the referral certificate.

Physical Demands: Work requires some physical exertion, (i.e. long periods of standing, or recurring and considerable walking, stooping, bending, crouching, and climbing) in performing construction activities, field inspections, or to observe and study work operations. You may carry light items. Work may require periodic to frequent travel, and driving a motor vehicle long distances.

Working Conditions: Work is usually performed in an office setting which involves everyday risks or discomforts requiring safety precautions typical of offices/meeting. You may travel to work sites which can involve occasional exposure to conditions in production facilities, laboratories, or construction sites requiring normal safety precautions. You may be required to participate in safety training, to allow safe and thorough assessment of existing facilities and/or new construction.

  • Air Quality: Poor air quality afflicts Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, especially during summer months – generally May to October. High ozone levels may be the most harmful pollutant here. In summer months, concentrations often exceed the federal ozone health standards. Housing information: Government housing (some accessible to persons with disabilities) within the park MAY be available on a limited/bid basis, and assigned based on management needs.

The National Park Service has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval.
