21-6031 Registered Nurse – AMHS/ACT – Community Mental Health Authority – Lansing, MI

Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Coordinator, serves as a staff nurse, performing a variety of duties depending on the area of assignment. Responsible for the orderly administration and maintenance of medication which involves administering prescribed drugs. Participates in interdisciplinary planning of care and treatment ensuring the coordination of medical services to consumers served by the program. May render general nursing care and provide medical support in accordance with approved nursing practices. Coordinates referrals from case managers requesting consultation with physicians, providing nursing consultation regarding consumers to case managers. Additional responsibilities include performing admissions screening on new consumers, serving as agency liaison, performing crisis intervention activities, providing case management, providing patient education, and providing above services on an outreach basis as indicated.

Requirements: Possession of an Associate’s degree in Nursing required. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred. Possession of a State of Michigan license as a Registered Nurse required. ACT RN experience preferred. One year of experience (professional or paraprofessional) in treating or working with a person who has a mental illness preferred. Case Management duties may only be assigned when the employee has or attains one year of experience. Possession of First Aid and CPR Certification required. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing is required. Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license and access to reliable means of transportation for job related use is required.

Conditional Employment Requirements: Employment offers for this position will be contingent upon the results of background verification and credentialing procedure consisting of: Michigan State Police clearance check, verification of a professional license, Medicaid/Medicare verification, verification of an acceptable driving record, educational background check, and verification of an acceptable work history.
