NIGHT COACH (Full-time) – The Heritage Community – Provo, UT

The Heritage Community seeks to hire dedicated employees to work during our graveyard shift. We will hire a candidate who is successful in working independently, while also contributing as a team member for their department. We seek an incumbent who can be alert and attentive to provide a positive, safe milieu for the students in our care.

Schedule:
As a co-ed student program and based on staffing ratios, we may seek to hire specific genders for positions.


  • Four shifts per week, 10:00 PM – 7:00 AM. Saturday night shift runs until 8:00 AM. Work schedule will be coordinated upon hire.


Knowledge and Abilities:


  • Ability to stay awake, alert, and attentive during the night, and energetic in the morning to assist the students.
  • Understanding of adolescent development, along with demonstrated ability to successfully coach adolescents, ages 12 – 18.
  • A basic awareness of mental health, particularly with trauma, mood disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorder, anxiety, attachment disruptions, avoidance, etc.
  • A balance between an engaging and empathetic character, while also having the capability to hold proper boundaries, to develop healthy and supportive relationships with the students.
  • Personal ambition, dependability, accountability, and excellent teamwork skills.
  • Ability to remain patient and calm, while mediating escalated situations or students.
  • Proficient communication and interpersonal-relationship skills.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Supervise the students during the night, providing a safe and secure, caregiving environment.
  • Establish trusting relationships with the students through appropriate boundaries, to successfully mediate any conflicts at hand or any time a student needs support and guidance due to escalated behavior.
  • Wake the students and supervise them during their initial morning tasks.
  • Assure that all paperwork and documentation requirements are met in an effective manner.


Qualifications:


  • Previous graveyard shift experience highly preferred.
  • Any previous experience in residential treatment will be competitive!
  • Must be at least 21 years of age or older to apply.
  • Proficiency and fluency in speaking, understanding, reading, and writing English.
