JOB SUMMARY:

Performs direct patient care as a Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) for a Staff Assisted Home Hemodialysis Program in a Skilled Nursing Facility under the direct supervision of Clinical Coordinator or Dialysis RN in accordance with Medical Directors orders, clinical guidelines, and policies and procedures of renew Dialysis.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for all aspects of patient care under the direction of the RN
  • Supports the home patient and is able to tears down dialysis machine and or cycler after dialysis treatments
  • Supports the home patient and is able to clean and disinfects machines and supports home patients to clean and disinfect machines/cyclers before during and after treatment
  • Supports the home patient and is able to initiates dialysis treatments and complete documentation of treatment according to RH policy and procedure
  • Supports the home patient and is able to take patient temperatures, blood pressures, weights and collect any relevant data and report this to the RN as appropriate and./or document them in the patient record as well as monitor equipment and patient status during treatments and documents status in patient record
  • Supports the home patient and is able to utilize critical thinking and immediately report any significant changes in patient condition to the nurse
  • Supports the home patient and is able to conducts emergency evacuation process with patients on a quarterly basis, initiate emergency care as well as conduct all expected safety checks on the machine and water treatment equipment as directed by policy and procedure and the Nurse in Charge
  • Reviews weekly treatment log for accuracy and completeness
  • Reviews medical records and personnel records for completeness and notifies Regional Manager of discrepancies; ensures accurate and complete medical records are compiled and maintained accordance with Renew Dialysis policy and procedure
  • Prepares all lab draw supplies, enters data in ASCEND as appropriate
  • Assists with inventory and ordering processes as assigned by the Regional Manager
  • Other duties as assigned by the Regional Manager, and other supervisory personnel.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

The worker may be subject to standard healthcare environmental conditions which may include body fluids, water, fumes, dust and gases. Standard precautions should always be taken when appropriate, and employees are provided PPE (personal protective equipment) and training re: proper use of PPE’s.

REPORTS TO:

Clinical Coordinator; Dialysis RN, or Regional Manager and

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current Patient Care Technician Certification required
  • Certification in C.P.R. required
  • Certified Clinical Hemodialysis technician required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Requirements may vary, but lifting, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling of patients, and dialysis equipment is required. Lifting requirements at a minimum are 20 pounds and may increase to several hundred pounds (with assistance).
