Position description

The Undergraduate Research Experience Program (UREP) offers undergraduate students interested in Sciences and Research and the opportunity to work at Mayo Clinic for a 10-12 week program, up to 30-40 hours per week. The UREP will gain research experience that will aid them in deciding on and/or obtaining opportunities in their chosen career path. Students will have opportunities for career development workshops/seminars as well as a poster presentation at the end of the program. UREP Students may be asked to perform, but not limited to, various support functions in a research laboratory (i.e. microscopy of specimens, analyzing data, sequencing, mass spectrometry) The student will receive direction from the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs and Research Training (OPART) office, work unit/department supervisor, mentor, and/or Principal Investigator. Works cooperatively with other laboratory personnel and must be responsive to requests and/or assistance from all levels of allied health staff in the laboratory.

This position may work up to 40 hours per week dependent on the department’s needs.

Interested student must apply by April 30, 2021. All offers will be made by June 14, 2021.


Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Must be a current or enrolled Undergraduate student returning to school for the Fall 2021 semester.
  • Selected candidates should plan to start employment on May 10, 17, 24 June 1, 7, or 14 of 2021.
  • Students must commit to the program for a minimum of 10 weeks.
  • Authorization to work and remain in the United States, without necessity for Mayo Clinic sponsorship now, or in the future (for example, be a U.S. citizen, national, or permanent resident, refugee or asylee)

La Crosse, WI, is a city of 52,000 with a metro area of 120,000 in the Upper Mississippi River Valley, located between Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN, and Madison, WI.
