Patient Care Coordinator OBGYN – Mon Health – Morgantown, WV

JOB SUMMARY

The Patient Care OB Coordinator will serve as a liaison within the OB clinic to ensure comprehensive care for the OB patient from conception through the postpartum period. The Patient Care OB Coordinator is responsible for meeting with all newly pregnant patients to provider consistent education, answer questions, ensure accurate chart completion, establish a relationship with the patients, orient them to the practice and what to expect at each visit. The Patient Care OB Coordinator will check in with the patients several times throughout their pregnancy to answer questions and educate on baby friendly requirements, birth plan requests, the labor and delivery process, etc. The Patient Care OB Coordinator will follow up with all postpartum patients within 1-2 weeks of delivery to discuss any symptoms/concerns, safe sleeping, breastfeeding and postpartum depression. The Patient Care OB Coordinator would follow up with and no shows or transfer patients to determine reasoning and reschedule patient. The Patient Care OB Coordinator would ensure that patients are compliant with the care outlined by their provider and that any lab results that were ordered have been received. The Patient Care OB Coordinator will maintain and update all breastfeeding education needed for our baby friendly certification. The Patient Care OB Coordinator will be responsible for any OB related nurse competencies for the staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Registered Nurse, BSN preferred.

Experience: Knowledge of OB nursing and Labor and Delivery process. Effective interpersonal communication skills in order to effectively collaborate with providers and educate patients. OB experience is preferred.

Licensure/Certification: Current West Virginia State Nursing License, which is renewed on a yearly basis. Must possess current BLS certification, which is renewed every two years.
