Location/Division Specific Information
Our Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry Division develops a complete range of high-end analytical instruments and software services that support customers within proteomics, clinical research, forensic toxicology, pharmaceutical, biotech, food safety, and environmental market segments.
How will you make an impact?
Collaborating with various teams such as product scientists, hardware and software engineers, you will plan and create high-quality user documentation and produce smart, intuitive animations and videos to enhance customer experience. You will be working on a variety of analytical software and instruments.
What will you do?
- Research and write user manuals for medical diagnostic hardware, instrument control software, and analytical software such as liquid chromatograph, mass spectrometer.
- Create new and update existing animations to explain complex workflow, device installations and maintenance procedures.
- Create user guides for analytical software that explain complex workflow.
- Collaborate with scientists, engineering and product evaluation teams, project and product managers in a scientific environment.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of documentation standards.
- Exhibit your skills in creating animations and videos to embed in documentation.
- Use a cutting-edge component content management system (CCMS) to create topic-based information that is scalable and reusable.
How will you get here?
Education
Degree in technical communication, chemistry, bio-chemistry or related field with an emphasis on technical documentation or equivalent years of relevant experience
Experience
- 10+ years of experience as a technical writer with experience documenting hardware devices
- Experience working with content management systems and XMetal
- Experience with analytical instruments is highly preferred
- Strong knowledge of Darwin Information Type Architecture (DITA), content analysis, and metadata/taxonomy is a plus
Experience with screen-capture software and video production software is desired
- Strong communication skills
- Must be highly organized and detail oriented
