SCHOOL NURSE ASSISTANT

POSITION SUMMARY: The School Nurse Assistant will assist in and performs duties under general direction of the Coordinator-Health and Nursing Services to assist the School Nurse in carrying for the health needs of students and to perform general duties in accordance with state health laws and district policies and procedures and to do related work as required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Assists in and performs routine student screening, (vision, hearing, scoliosis, heights and weights).

· Performs office support duties such as recording data, records maintenance and development of new student health records and daily log reports e.g. immunization.

· Contact/communicate with parents of sick and injured students.

· Responsible for assisting the school nurse with but not limited to medical treatment of students and other duties as assigned.

· Maintain standards of first aid and care for the emergency treatment during the school day.

· Identifies student needs and make appropriate referrals and will work together with our student support team to monitor student health needs.

· All other duties as assigned by CEO, CAO, Principal, and School Operations Manager

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

· Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification required.

· Excellent Communication

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • CPR and First aid certified.

BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION: Complete and submit Child Abuse; Criminal; and FBI background checks and any other documentation prior to hire.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENTAL PROFILE: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Prolonged periods of standing, reaching, and bending. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
