The Director of Marketing is responsible for the design and successful oversight of marketing plans that promote the products and services offered within the Community & Specialty Pharmacy (CSP) segment. With broad direction from the Vice President, Marketing, CSP, this role will be closely aligned with the CSP sales and leadership teams, goals and business objectives. This role is also responsible for leading and managing the CSP marketing team responsible for successful execution of plans and strategies, in conjunction with the enterprise marketing Centers of Expertise (COEs).

The Director of Marketing is responsible for understanding business objectives and strategic investments of the CSP segment and translating them into tangible and actionable marketing initiatives. We expect these efforts to be supported by exceptional business acumen, a strong understanding of marketplace dynamics, a deep appreciation for customer needs, and knowledge of AmerisourceBergen’s value proposition within the retail pharmacy marketplace. Additionally, the individual will be responsible for creating messaging to support and communicate our key differentiators and value proposition.

The role must embrace a continuous improvement mentality and proactively identify ways to maximize efficiency and effectiveness. The Director of Marketing is responsible for short and long-term resource planning, including the development of business cases to support recommendations.

  • Works closely with business leads to implement key marketing initiatives to keep all groups well informed and to provide information in a timely manner to help drive sales.
  • Responsible for leadership and development of direct reports and indirect COE reports; must be a people-focused manager with a desire to grow high performing teams in a complex matrix environment
  • Creates messaging, branding, and communication strategies for all business segments; implements, and oversees communications programs that effectively describe and promote our solutions, services and products based on the needs and requirements for each segment; serves as the primary facilitator for the development of marketing communication plans and ensures successful deployment of communication for all segments.
  • Analyzes target audiences to determine the nature and format of messages that need to be constructed and communicated.
  • Gathers information through fact-finding research to support the development of strategic marketing communication materials.
  • Works with business sales support teams to develop content, marketing themes, advertising copy and design ideas for all media.
  • Assists in preparing presentations and/or speeches geared toward associates and customers from all segments and the respective consumers; may provide supervision and direction to staff.
  • Creates internal/external communications for new or enhanced products and solutions; may include, but not limited to, developing program and product overviews, FAQs, and presentations.
  • Develops and oversees creative design and content for collateral, including but not limited to, newsletters, letters, websites, educational tools, and direct mail pieces.
  • Serves as liaison for advertising agency engagements and other vendors involved in developing and delivering various communication channels.
  • Manages relationships, resources and deliverables with all internal stakeholders and external vendors such as advertising agencies and print companies; works collaboratively with designers, printers and outside vendors to ensure the timely production and distribution of quality materials.
  • Tracks and measures the success of materials through quantitative or qualitative research; makes recommendations to enhance communication-based on findings and/or best practices.
  • Responsible for developing and writing content; supervises other writers in the development of marketing communication materials, as needed.
  • Ensures adherence to brand guidelines.
  • Identifies ways to maximize efficiency and cost-effectiveness within all communication channels.
  • Serves as resource and advisor for all marketing and communication issues.
  • Contributes to the effective team management of all relevant problems, issues and opportunities.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
  • Requires a minimum of eight (8) years of medical marketing communication experience in healthcare marketing and management, with an emphasis on successful communication strategy development and implementation; proven success in personnel management and project management; Marketing or Pharmacy Degree preferred
  • Technical expertise with PC’s, software applications and/or automated dispensing systems desired
  • Demonstrated success in launching new products and services and successfully communicating pertinent information to both internal and external audience
  • Well organized with demonstrated success in planning and managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written forms with sales, customers and management
  • Demonstrated success in group speaking and presentations
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership and relationship building skills
  • Strong project management and prioritization skills
  • Ability to multi-task and integrate cross-functional teams and each of their department needs
  • Strong organizational skills; attention to detail
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability and willingness to travel
