Engineering Technician
Reports To: Engineering Manager
Shift: 7:30am – 4pm
Hi-Tech Foam Products is looking to fill an Engineering Technician position at our production facility just east of downtown Indianapolis. This person will be a self-starter and results oriented with good math aptitude. They will report to the engineering manager and will support engineering and production as needed.
Job Responsibilities
General responsibilities are listed below, but other duties may be assigned based on the needs of the department.
- Train on the production processes in various departments including die cutting and aerospace
- Assist with manufacturing phase-in of new programs, including operator training and fixture development
- Work with engineering to transition current production processes to CNC manufacturing
- Design new tooling in AutoCAD and order tooling from approved vendors
- Identify and build new fixtures to optimize current processes and launch new programs
- Assist in developing and testing production processes for new programs
- Update production process Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and develop new ones as needed
- Support aerospace production processes and ensure proper paperwork is being maintained
- Create and update part Bill of Materials (BOMs) and routings
- Assist maintenance in machine troubleshooting and ordering spare parts
Qualifications
- High School diploma/GED and 5+ years experience in a manufacturing environment OR 2 years post-secondary/Associates Degree in a technical related field
- Mechanically inclined and desire to be hands-on
- Patient with attention to detail
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and use measurement devices (tape measure, calipers, etc.)
- Experience using AutoCAD or a similar computer-aided design program
Working Conditions
- Employee will have job duties that require a mix of standing and sitting
- Employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles
- Will spend time on the production floor and in an office setting
- Must be able to occasionally lift 50 pounds
