LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) – Reliant Living Centers of Oklahoma – Del City, OK

Working under the supervision of the Director of Nursing to provide professional nursing care for clients. Be responsible for professional duties as determined by qualifications and training. Be in charge of the facility when the Administrator, QIDP, Director of Nursing or Personnel Director are not present.

Duties:

  • Perform professional nursing duties as determined by education, training and qualifications.
  • Assume charge of the facility in the absence of the above named supervisors.
  • Assume responsibility for the following: passing medications, giving all injections, carrying out treatment orders and observing responses of clients to medication and treatment.
  • Make rounds with on-coming nurse to ensure that all clients are dry, clean and following the 24 hour sheet.
  • Check the overall condition of the facility to ensure that it is clean and safe. Ensure that the staff on duty are performing their assigned tasks and lead by example.
  • Attend all in-service meetings
  • Administer emergency first aid
  • Receive all doctors’ orders, make out telephone orders, send to physician and note order.
  • Receive and record new orders, make changes on all pertinent documents.
  • Complete incident reports on employees when an injury occurs on their shift and fill out supervisor’s report.
  • Complete incident reports on clients, if a head wound is present, neurology checks are to be completed according to schedule that is on the back of the report.
  • Chart all pertinent information on clients that occur on the shift and needs to be noted.
  • When clients leave the facility, ensure that this has been recorded in the nursing notes, the leave book and place name on the board. If the client did not check out, call the family to verify that they are with them.
  • When employees call in sick, it is your responsibility to cover the shift. Be sure that employees from the earlier shift stay to cover until a replacement comes in to work for the sick employee.
  • To be sure that you initiate the Universal Policy for handling blood and bodily fluids and also wear gloves when working with them.
  • Assist the direct care staff with any problems and help the clients when needed.
  • Instruct the direct care staff on medical procedures that they need to complete and track.
  • In the event of an abuse allegation, complete all required documentation, obtain statements from all staff and clients involved. Contact the Administrator immediately.
  • In the event of client-client abuse, complete all required documentation and take appropriate action. Notify the Administrator and QIDP immediately.
