SUMMARY
The City of Chicopee’s DPW – Water Pollution Control Division is hiring a Waste Water Treatment Plant Attendant to assist in the operation, maintenance, cleaning, and repair of all plant process equipment, buildings and grounds, for their proper and safe operation. Also, WPC Attendants drive commercial vehicles to transport facility residuals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES INCLUDE
· Clean, lubricate, maintain, compressors, vehicles, works with preventative maintenance program and related tasks.
· Operates CDL vehicles as needed for the removal, emptying of containers, transportation and disposal of residuals and material(s).
· Operates all City owned vehicles including skid steer loader, roll-off truck, etc.
· In charge of day to day maintenance of all assigned vehicles; drive, maintain, clean, registry inspection, scheduling of routine preventative maintenance.
· Originate and perform work orders and preventative maintenance / repairs on the Collection System tools, equipment and vehicles.
· Replaces worn or damaged parts such as hoses, wiring, and belts, in machines and equipment such as snow blower, and riding mower.
· Maintains inventory of cleaning/janitorial supplies, building and ground maintenance supplies and order same as needed.
· Adheres to all state, federal, and local safety regulations as well as City of Chicopee Health and Safety policies.
· Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
To be minimally qualified for this position, one must meet the following criteria:
· High School Diploma or Equivalent (HiSet/GED)
· A minimum of one year of related experience and/or training
§ OR a combination of education and experience/training
· Massachusetts CDL-B (CDL-A desired) with air brakes and tanker endorsements.
· Massachusetts 2C Hoisting License or obtain within probationary period.
COMPENSATION

This is a full-time union position, with a starting pay of Grade 6L, at* $16.77 per hour ($18.77 w/ a CDL A license) and more with additional qualifying licenses *with opportunities for bonus hourly pay, additional incentives, as well as periodic step and pay increases upon continuous completion of employment with the City of Chicopee.
