Maintenance Mechanic (2nd Shift) – Andersen Windows & Doors – Spring Valley, WI

This position is responsible for repairing machine & equipment breakdowns, performing preventative maintenance on all machines to provide safe operation and optimum running order, as well as performing facilities maintenance and fabricating jigs & fixtures.

This position is for 2nd shift (3:00pm-11:30pm)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide mechanical and electrical support of production equipment and processes
  • Implement mechanical additions, modifications, design changes, and retrofit of machine parts to existing equipment
  • Proactive equipment preventative maintenance
  • Read schematics, wiring diagrams and prints
  • Provide and suggest reliability-based equipment improvements
  • Grind, sharpen, clean, measure and organize tooling
  • Ability to use PLC based troubleshooting methods to diagnose problems
  • Minor programming changes across Allen Bradley Product lines – PLC’s, Drives, HMI’s, etc.
  • Support, understand, and work with Ethernet IP addresses in a production environment
  • Strong safety awareness – lock out/tag out, right-to-know, arc flash, machine guarding, procedures, etc.
  • Interface with operations personnel, engineering and others and make quality decisions based on that input
  • Document and provide engineering with information/feedback of machine revisions and to update machine prints
  • Provide a high level of service

  • Ensure workspace is clean, safe and organized following 5S standards

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary school education relevant to a mechanical trade is preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of on-the-job mechanical experience
  • Strong mechanical, technical aptitude with a demonstrated creativity to be able to devise jigs and fixtures
  • Experience installing, modifying, and troubleshooting electronic components and circuits
  • Experience installing, modifying, and troubleshooting pneumatic components and air logic
  • Metal working experience with mills, lathes, welders, and plasma cutters
  • Ability to recognize safety issues and recommend solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to complete projects from initial requests to implementation in a timely manner
  • Proven strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to work well independently and as a member of a team
  • Good, positive attitude with the ability to interact effectively with other departments to ensure the accuracy and timely delivery
  • Strong communication skills – ability to interface with all levels of personnel in the facility
  • Motivation and self confidence
  • Fit within an established three shift team of maintenance professionals
  • An understanding of and belief in lean operating systems
