Senior Pharmacy Specialist, Full-Time (MOLOKAI GENERAL HOSPITAL) – The Queen’s Medical Center – Molokai, HI

Molokai General Hospital is looking for a Full-Time Senior Pharmacy Specialist. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, maintaining, manages, and controls pharmacy supplies and equipment from acquisition to disposition. Duties also include coordination of the 340B program and Central Supply and Sterilization operation.

Molokai General Hospital is a 15-bed rural health care facility with a Critical Access Hospital designation. It provides the only emergency room for the residents and visitors on the island of Molokai. MGH became a part of The Queen’s Health Systems in 1987 and provides acute care, inpatient hospice, skilled nursing, and low-risk obstetrical services. It also offers primary care in a rural health clinic, chemotherapy, limited specialty procedures, diabetes management, family planning, physical therapy (including aquatic therapy), veteran’s services and chronic disease navigation services.

I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for maintaining, managing, and controlling pharmacy supplies and equipment from acquisition to disposition. Coordinates the 340B program and Central Supply and Sterilization operations.

II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Essential functions- Seeing, hearing, speaking, standing, sitting, walking, stooping/bending, kneeling, finger dexterity, lifting weight up to 50 pounds, pushing/pulling weight up to 50 pounds, carrying weight up to 50 pounds, reaching above, at and below shoulder level. Operates computer, printer, copier, fax, calculator, Omnicell, and EKG equipment.

III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions, noise and/or vibration, hazardous physical conditions, or atmospheric conditions which affect the respiratory system or the skin.

IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:

Associate Degree in business, healthcare, or related field; or two (2) years of business or health care experience may be substituted for the education requirement.Current certification as a Pharmacy Technician preferred.BLS/HCP level certification.ACLS level certification within six (6) months of entry into the position.

B. EXPERIENCE:

In addition to the educational requirement, three (3) years of direct patient care or three (3) years pharmacy technician experience. A bachelor’s degree may be substituted for one (1) year experience in direct patient care or as a pharmacy technician.Ability to type 40wpm.Ability to relate effectively to patients of all ages, their families, and staff.Ability to maintain patient privacy and confidentiality required.
