Human Resources Assistant – Person Centered Care Services Inc – Staten Island, NY

Person Centered Care Services (PCCS) is a not-for-profit organization creating social change within communities by supporting people with disabilities on their search for identity and acceptance. From supports in education, employment, and housing to training, counseling, and advocacy initiatives, PCCS has been at the forefront of continuing to expand opportunities for people with disabilities.

The HR Assistant will assist with the administration of day to day functions within the HR Department. The HR Assistant must maintain compliance with state and federal guidelines and ensure all documents pertaining to employees are created and maintained in accordance with all state, local, and federal laws.


Due to COVID-19, this position will start REMOTELY, but will change to onsite once the pandemic is over.


PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES:

The HR Assistant is responsible for conducting and maintaining follow-up on compliance issues set forth by the state, federal guidelines, and internal policies. The HR Assistant shall aim to increase employee satisfaction by following HR best practices. This includes but is not limited to;

  • Facilitate and create new hire profiles in Paycom and eVero.

  • Coordinate logistics for the new hire process including new hire orientation: extend offer to potential employees, provide applicants with new hire documentation, and track new hire orientation.

  • Create and maintain employee personnel/medical records in accordance to state, local, and federal laws.

  • Responsible for scheduling and conducting all required background checks for all PCCS employees, in addition to assisting with other potential employees.

  • Participate in job fairs and other recruitment activities.

  • Perform HRIS data entry by entering and updating employment and status change, including I-9s, promotions, transfers, termination, etc.

  • Ability to maintain integrity, objectivity, and confidentiality at all times, and to abide by strict ethical guidelines.

  • Review and prepare employee information for internal and external audits.

  • Organize and provide documents, reports, and information.

  • Conduct reference checks and employment verification.

  • Attend trainings to remain current on all federal, state, and city policy changes.

  • Other duties deemed necessary by supervisor.

Travel Requirements – May require travel to our main office and off-site events.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School/ GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • One year of experience working in a Human Resources department or in an administrative function required

  • Demonstrated ability in verbal and written communication, including basic computer skills, and the ability to work independently and with a team required.

  • Knowledge of Paycom and/or eVero preferred.
