Bead Blast Technician I – Pentagon Technologies – Hopewell Junction, NY

SUMMARY:

The Bead Blast Technician I, is a direct labor position within the Production Team whose main responsibilities are to process parts within the Bead Blast according to written processes and known practices. There are three levels of competency within this group.

· Technician I, can only perform these duties under supervision of skilled technician

· Technician II, ability to perform these duties with some supervision.

· Lead Technician III, person who has ability to perform all duties with limited or no supervision.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

Safety First. Employee has been trained and is to follow all general safety requirements of Pentagon Technologies, as well as specific safety requirements within the Bead Blast team. Employee will be trained on general safety requirements at time of hire, and specific requirements within this team during the first 90 days of his / her employment. As the working environment involves noise, exposure to machinery with moving parts, dust, toxic or flammable substances, Personal Protective Equipment is required.

Employee is responsible to process customer supplied parts within the Bead Blast department according to known processes as specified by work order traveler instructions.

Must be proficient at operating a blasting nozzle.

Will blast parts with some deposition and surfacing parts to specific specifications.

Know proper blasting pressures as they relate to specifications for any particular part(s).

Ability to be able to handle delicate parts large or small without damaging.

Must lift parts weighing up to 75 pounds.

Possess knowledge of how parts should appear after blasting.

Will know what media to use on each job with an understanding of different metals.

Mechanical ability to disassemble parts inside the blasting cabinet.

Understand and follow operating procedures as assigned to the team to assure consistent, reliable, and timely processing of parts within this team. Works closely with the other departments regarding reworking and communication for incoming/outgoing parts. Interacts with other blasters regarding jobs that require more than one person to complete. Must be familiar with non-blast surfaces on particular parts along with masking tape skills. Understands warping of parts along with acceptable roughness measurements and how to take such measurements. Knowledge of how to read and understand prints.

Proficient in the usage of a profilometer.

Ability to perform under pressure, and the ability to bring to management in a clear, concise, and professional manner all potential conflicts in the performance of their duties.

Has an appreciation for timeliness, quality, and punctuality. This includes following all rules and regulations, including safety, attendance, breaks, time off, and etc. established by management.

Maintains organization and cleanliness of assigned areas.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The three positions listed, Tech I, and Tech II have no supervisory responsibilities.

Lead Tech III Responsibilities, as assigned by the Production Manager, shall include but are not limited to, a complete and thorough understanding of the department functions. Must have good communication skills, comprehend and employ the Pentagon Technologies MIS system as it relates to their functions, have the ability manage time allocations of all assigned staff, and be able to manage minor conflicts within the team.

EDUCATION and or EXPERIENCE:

No formal education requirements are established for this position. Experience is dependent upon which position, Technician I, Technician II, or Lead Technician III, that the person is performing.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, write and comprehend written internal documents such as work order travelers, inventory records, logs and general company records.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Basic addition, subtraction, and multiplication skills in order to process inventory, counting, time allocation, and work hours.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Must pass company required hearing, physical and drug screening tests.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, reach with hands and arms and be able to handle parts that weigh up to seventy five (75) pounds without assistance.
