The candidate must show good communication skills and multi-tasking skills. Willing to work in the laboratory in the different shifts including weekend shifts. Person will be responsible for but not limit to: a variety of high-complexity, clinical laboratory testing in Molecular biology or Genomic environment. Perform QC/QA procedures for various reagents and instruments, preventive maintenance and test validation. Review and report test results in accordance with laboratory standards. Writing laboratory operating procedures under supervisions. Maintain working knowledge of laboratory policies and procedures. Expected to be able to complete assigned tasks in timely manner. Be able to troubleshoot common procedural relevant issues. Currently doing RT-PCR Covid-19 testing on three different platforms.
The candidate is required to be knowledgeable of CLIA/CAP/CA compliance and research regulatory policies.
Requirements (required):
· Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences, Physical/Life Science or related.
· Current California State license as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist, Generalist, or Molecular Specialist
· Ability to communicate effectively, and follow written and verbal instructions.
· Able to demonstrate time management skills.
· Basic understanding of a LIS system.
· Independently perform high-complexity clinical tests including RT-PCR
· Prepares and tests new reagents or controls
· Performs test calibrations and runs Quality Control at appropriate intervals
· Interprets RT-PCR results
· Accurately enters and reports testing results
· Takes appropriate action in response to critical values or unusual or unexpected results, and documents action taken
· Accurately performs and records proficiency testing
