Per Diem Direct Support Professional – YAI – Seeing Beyond Disability – Bronx, NY

YAI empowers people with disabilities to reach their goals every day. Per diem DSPs maintain a rather unique and cross-functional role when it comes to supporting our programs in Bronx. Contrary to the traditional DSP, Per diems have the flexibility of creating their own work schedules based on their own personal availability and the corresponding programmatic needs of the region. As a Per diem DSP, you will be trained and deployed as a valued regional support across each of our 9 Bronx Individualized Residential Alternatives (IRAs):

  • Bainbridge
  • East Tremont
  • Kingsbridge
  • 206th Street
  • Norwood Supportive
  • Rochambeau

Schedule:

  • Varies; Flexible

Please note: there is an average minimum expectation of at least 16 hours (or 2 shifts) per month in order to remain actively employed as a Per diem DSP. YAI further offers structured incentives—in addition to hourly wages—for DSPs that consistently work above and beyond this monthly minimum requirement.

Job Requirements/Preferences:

  • High School Diploma or GED ; some college is a plus
  • Minimum 1+ Year(s) work/life experience as a DSP and/or supporting people with I/DD
  • Valid Driver’s License preferred but not required (NY State)
  • Ability to participate in 3-5 weekdays of paid NYS Mandated OPWDD initial trainings during normal business hours upon hire
  • Tuberculosis test mandatory for most positions (provided FREE of charge by our Premier HealthCare clinic)
