Cornell University Veterinary Specialists (CUVS) in
Stamford, CT, is seeking a veterinary assistant to work with
our Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation (SMR) team. Our
board-certified SMR specialist is one of only approximately
50 such specialists in the country, so this is a unique
opportunity to provide care at the highest level.
The SMR at CUVS works collaboratively with other specialty
services within CUVS, as well as accepting referrals from
other specialty and general practices. Each patient receives an
individualized treatment plan utilizing a combination of
manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, massage,
thermotherapy, cryotherapy, neurofunctional acupuncture,
weight control, and/or programs for core strengthening and
stability. Modalities include: underwater treadmill, Class IV
laser, electrical stimulation (NMES, E-STIM), orthosis (brace)
management, prosthesis management and regenerative
medicine (stem cells/PRP). The veterinary assistant plays a
vital role in the service; responsibilities include:
- Performing, and assisting with, patient treatments.
- Supporting and assisting the specialist and technician in
patient procedures and in consultations.
- Professional client interactions and coordination with the
CUVS client service team.
- Inventory management.
- Maintenance of the service’s examination rooms and
treatment area.
